Went here a few weeks ago with my bf, had to wait only a few minutes for our table and the food was quick and delicious !!!
Their drinks were good!
Their food was exceptional! Love their pumpkin ball and beef sashimi!!!!
Definitly going again!!!
this place is sooooooooo good. i love the atmosphere. the people are friendly and the food is great!!!!
I recommend the beef caparcio, yaki udon, kimchi udon, and the sharkfin jelly fish thing. YUMMMY
Good good food,
great for going out in a group, and just sitting down to eat and drink. Dishes I recommend:
*One of the greatest things to do, get a side of garlic chipz. If you like garlic, it will knock u off the seat of your pants
You must go !! This place is the all time best Izakaya in Vancouver. Being a fan of this kind of food we have tried just about every option in Vancouver and Guu w/ Garlic is #1. Everything about this place is guud. The service, they atmosphere, the presentation and of cource the food! WE have been going to the Guu chains for about 6 years (first location is on Thurlow street) and we keep going back. Some menu highlights from Guu w/ Garlic are: Grilled yellow tail cheek, tuna tataki, tempura pork cutlet, chicken karage, beef salad.
All the loactions are good but we like Guu on Robson, then Guu in Gas Town and in 3rd place the location on Thurlow. My only complaint on the Thurlow one is the service (horrible) and the place lacks clean...very dirty and it seems like lack of care in presentation and prep. But the food still tastes good and the selection is a bit different from the other 2 locations.
So go - at least to Guu w/ Garlic (robson) and the Guu in Gas Town.
This is the Guu I like the most. Not a lot of room but it gives you a very cozy and welcoming environment (as well as the wait too). The servers are friendly, and once you get to know them they are actually pretty funny! The wait is worthwhile if they don't screw up the waiting list (sometimes you can see it gets really messy).
Some dishes that I like:
Takoyaki (all time favourite!)
Pumpkin ball Croquette (with egg inside!)
Beef Sahimi
Yaki Udon
etc..etc.. Basically everything on the menu is worth a try! (not guarantee if you would like it tho=p)
I disagree... long wait... food is ok... not my favourite izakaya for that kind of wait... I'm a loyal fan of Gyoza King on Robson.
I've been to the Guu chain of restaurants only once... and never went back again... if that means anything. the atmosphere just isn't as warm as Gyoza King. maybe i'm just being biased...
