Samurai Sushi House
(11/3/2005 11:43:04 PM)
This is my favorite place for take-out sushi, whenever I'm in the area, desperately in need for some inexpensive Japanese food. This is the first place that I would turn to because the sushi's are ridiculously HUGE, especially there sashimi and the quality is quite good. The price is right, the place is kind of small, and can seat about 20-25 people. It's extremely busy during lunchtime, people usually have to wait in line.

They have really good deals on party trays, and many different sushi combos.

Again, I would like to emphasize on the fact that this place has HUGE, i repeat, HUGE sashimi, they are the best value for what you pay for.

Daimo Noodle Express

This is one of the best places to eat wonton noodles in the Lower Mainland. They're famous for their wonton noodle soup. The price is very reasonable. You know it's good when they have locations all over the world.

Actually, the first time when I had it was when I was in San Francisco, but the granville location is just as good as anywhere else.

Cheesecake Etc.
(11/3/2005 11:27:51 PM)
Anyone who has ever been to Cheesecake Factory in the states would definately agree with me that this place doesn't live up to it at all (cheesecake, being the focal point). There are only a few selected choices at etc. and it's expensive closing in at almost $5 a piece, when I can pick from over 80+ choices at CF for virtually the same price, the cheesecake tastes better, and the slices are 3x bigger, so that u can share it with your friends or with your date.

If you wanna try cheesecake from CF, you can order their cakes online and they are worth every penny.

Aji Taro

This is perhaps the best late night AYCE that I've been to with the most choices and best in taste. $12.95 after 10pm weeknights and weekends.

The only downside is that this place is always pack when the late night AYCE kicks in at around 10 and the crowd won't die down till about 11:30pm. I have been told in the past that I had to wait for up to 40 min. before I can be seated, which I didn't of course.

Anton's Pasta Bar
(11/3/2005 10:22:37 PM)
This place has gone downhill over the years. There portion size used to be much bigger, and to be honest, there pasta is really not that great. Most people would agree with me that people go there only because of their portion size. Well let me tell you this, if you want a true italian dining experience that won't break your wallet, head a couple blocks over to L'artista on Hastings. It's just a few blocks away from Anton's. You won't be disappointed.

p.s.
They don't even give out pens anymore when you finish your plate of pasta.

Kirin Mandarian Restaurant (City Square)
(11/3/2005 10:10:25 PM)
I, too have dine here on a number of occasions. This restaurant is one of the few chinese restaurants out there that actually know what good customer service is. Although, the price can be more expensive than your usual $2 all-size dimsums, but they offer many great unique choices that you can't find at other chinese restaurants. In conclusion, I would definately say that this is one of the best chinese restaurants out there, it can cater to all your different occasions may it be a family re-union, or a business dinner. It's definately worth a try!

The Coppertank Bar and Grill

I have been to this pub a couple of times with my friends for some casual drinking and snacking. The price is right, sometimes they have live bands coming in to perform at night time. Nothing but the best experiences everytime I go, they have really good food there as well.

Cafe Gloucester
(11/3/2005 9:57:29 PM)
I have been a regular to this place since day 1. The food is excellent, the customer service can improve, but then again, that can be said for just about 99% of all chinese restaurants/cafes. The price is fair, the portion size is not the biggest, but the quality of the food certainly upstages it.

My personal favorite is Baked Portugese Chicken on Rice. Try it today!

The price is actually a lot less than $15, as most people usually go between 12-5 and after 9pm. They offer a mini set menu during these periods of time.
