The view is the only thing this place has going for it!

Blah.  The thought of last night's dinner still makes me nauseous.  Food and ambiance are reminiscent of an 80's three star hotel dining room.  Prices were mid-range ($35 for a 3-course fixed menu), but the food was awful.  Hokey piano music coming from the lounge only added to the 80's atmosphere - this was not classy lounge music, more like elevator music.  Service was attentive, if a little unrefined.  Plates and silverware were of the cheap old hotel variety, and presentation was lacking.  I had the shrimp and butter lettuce salad, which came on a little salad plate and had a very bottled tasting dressing.  The SO had the pumpkin bisque, which was in a little "cup-o-soup" type bowl - weird.  Neither of the appetizers were particularly appealing, but just upping the ante on the presentation would have made a big difference to our first impressions (you know, big wide soup bowl, funky salad plate).  For the mains, I had the salmon and it was AWFUL.  It had a very strange texture, which I can only describe as creamy (like when you mix canned salmon with mayo to make salmon salad).   I did not even finish half of it - couldn't stomach it.  Veggies and rice were very bland.  SO had the mixed meat plate, most of which he said was decent.  For dessert, chocolate eggnog cheescake - definitely not made on premises and nothing special.  I guess they get away with such poor quality because of the views, which I admit, are quite spectacular.  I'd go back there to sit in the lounge and have drinks overlooking this gorgeous city.  This place could make a killing if they went more upscale (hire a good chef, renovate, get some new dishes and silverware!!).
